Everyone deserves a decent place to live, and everyone can do something today to help make that possible for another family.
Habitat for Humanity – Anchorage (HFHA) is working dedicated to the mission of providing simple, safe, decent and affordable homeownership opportunities to families we partner with. HFHA works with people from all backgrounds, creeds and walks of life to build strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter. The HFHA program partners with volunteers, donors and home-buyers to carry out our mission.
We do this by building homes alongside partners and selling the homes at or under appraised value with a nonprofit mortgage.
Habitat for Humanity Home is...
Habitat's homes have monthly housing payments, including mortgage, home insurance, and property taxes, set to not exceed 30% of the household monthly income.
Habitat sells homes at no profit and with 0% (zero percent) interest on the mortgage.
Habitat for Humanity homes range from single homes to townhouses, with a wide range of home types to suit every family size and style.
3 things need to know before applying for the Homeowner Program
Habitat Home is NOT free gift
Habitat for Humanity homes are not given away. When a family or individual partners with us, they have to pay the mortgage on the house.
Need to be a partner with us
Take a time to own a home
All homeowners complete 250-600 hours of sweat equity per adult as part of the down payment on their home.
This is not a quick process – from selection to move – in. It takes up to 2.5 years for a new build.
